The objective of the federation shall be in general to promote fisheries activities, i.e. fish production and allied activities as well as and other aquatic produce on cooperative basis in a particular-

(a) to manage the small, medium and large reservoirs and revenue ponds of the state directly, or through fishermen cooperative societies (FCS).

(b) to provide finance to the FCS for development of fisheries activities.

(c) to assist in the preservation of fish and other aquatic produce.

(d) to help in marketing of fish and other aquatic produce and its products through concerned government agencies or otherwise.

(e) to help in the activities for enhancing the production of fish and other aquatic produce from the water bodies.

(f) to enter into all kinds of contracts and transactions relating to purchase and sale of fish and other aquatic produce.

(g) to acquire and hold share in any co-operative society in the best interest of the federation.

(h) to take necessary steps to safeguard the interest of the affiliated societies.

(i) to encourage thrift, self-help and cooperation amongst the member of its affiliated societies and to promote the development of cooperative ideas and enterprises among its members

(j) to arrange for the training of members of affiliated societies.

(k) to motivate, help, coordinate and assist the member societies and their member in adopting other aquaculture activities like ornamental fisheries, pearl culture, pen culture, cage culture, net weaving, boat making, fish seed raising, fish feed production etc.

(l) to assist the members in procuring crafts and gears for harvesting from the reservoirs.

(m) to undertake fishermen welfare scheme like housing, tube well, community hall, Insurance, credit-cum-relief scheme etc.

(n) generally to undertake such other business and to do such other things as are incidental and conducive to the promotion and attainment of the above objectives.
